I have an orange tree, a lime tree and a lemon tree...can these be kept in a large pot (separately) and still grow and be healthy?

I have a meyer lemon, a kumquat and an avacado in pots on the patio and they produce and grow just fine. Just make sure to fertilize with something your garden center reccomends, water properly and get a large enough pot. Also, make sure you don't just use regular potting soil. You need a good mix for fruit trees.

I was told, haven't tried it yet, that when I decide to plant them in the yard, they will grow to normal size.

I am getting to the point where I had rather grow plants and trees in large containers. It seems so much easier. Give it a try, I'm sure you will like it.

Yes you can if you meet all the needs of the plant. It takes more time to care for them when they are in pots. Watering is the biggest issue, they tend to dry out quickly and all the watering will leach the nutrients from the soil so feeding is required also.
