If a manager got fired every time a team fell out of first place there would be a lot of out of work managers. No manager has ever been fired in the midst of a situation such as this - the team is still alive after all. If and when this collapse becomes complete I think a fair portion of the team will not be coming back - a couple members or even most of the bullpen a starting pitcher or two, three or four position players and possibly the manager.

Um, no. The Mets may yet pull off the NL East berth, and heading into extra October baseball is no time to fire the manager.
If the Mets do blow it, well, maybe fire him. But not today.

That might be the dumbest question I've heard in a long time.
Yeah, let's fire Randolph. He didn't go anything to get the Mets where they are. He doesn't have a good relationship with his players. He doesn't have to deal with a bunch of veterans who DON'T want to lead. (that was all sarcastic)
