No, I never wear any kind of footwear myself. It is NOT dangerous or gross; feet get very tough very quickly and are fully washable. Nor would it be a problem in businesses; I have never even SEEN a 'no shoes, no shirts, no service' sign here in the Netherlands, nor on my trips to Belgium and Scotland. And even in the US, in spite of persistent myths there are no Health Department laws requiring footwear in stores or restaurants. See source.

where?
like outside/around town/around the house?
around the house: no way, neither do I
outside (like backyard, beach): nope
around town: yeah, then we got a problem.
