she has been declawed for well over a year and she still tries to sharpen her "claws" funny as heck to watch

Her 'fingernails' have been removed but the nerve endings are still in place. She 'feels' the need to scratch and is fulfilling that desire. It's probably frustrating for her because she can't get the satisfaction she desires.

Probably because it is a cat's nature to sharpen their claws. Their claws are used as part of their defense and offense. It has been bred into them for thousands of years.

There are also scent glands in that area and she's trying to mark her territory.
Declawing is becoming recognized as a cruel procedure and some vets now refuse to perform it.
