I wouldn't tell him to stick his job until I had the cheque in the bank and it had actually cleared. Until then, I'd just smile sweetly and come in as if nothing had happened!
It's happened to quite a few people though. I've seen it in the papers occasionally. If it happened to me, no I don't think I'd grovel for my job back. It's not worth it. I'd feel a right numpty.

OMG just thnk of that ... i wouldbe so embarassed .... i think i would swallow my pride and say "oh i was only joking about me winning the lottery just to see what your reaction would be" " errrr is my job still available please"
