Colditz was also known as Oflag IV-C. Would this be called "four c" or did the IV stand for something else? Anyone know please?

Yes IV signifies the number 4 (using Roman numbers).

In German it would have been something like "Oflag vier - tsay"

and in English 4C.

It would be fier see, the Germans used roman numerals, I was in Stalag XXA near Marienburg for almost 5 years, till the Ruskies started to get near, then the jerrys but us on the road to march in blizzard conditions, sleeping in freezing barns at night, no effort was made to feed us,many of my friends perished after being cooped up for years, now we are expected to like them.
