Dots?

If you're trying to scan a photo from a newspaper, you could scan it at a high resolution, make it a very large image, then use a photo editing program to shrink it to a usable size.

Resizing the image will make it blurry, removing the dots and making it look more like an actual photo.

Try searching for tutorials for the photo editing software you're using.

I presume you mean the dots that show up when you scan an old newspaper photo.

Use an image editing software (like Adobe Photoshop or Corel Photopaint) and apply the filter/effect called, "Gaussian Blur".

You'll have to experiment a bit to apply just enough blur to smoothen the photograph without blurring too much detail.

If you have adobe photoshop any version will work, the 2.0 only costs abuot 30 bucks, you can scan the picture, and then load it up in adobe photoshop, go to filters, then click noise, then click remove noise! That should work!
