In the Pacific it's called a "typhoon". In the Indian Ocean, it's called a monsoon.

A monsoon is not in the same class as a hurricane and typhoon. A monsoon is a prevailing wind that lasts several weeks.

Hurricanes and typhoons are what are referred to as "tropical cyclones". The term Cyclone is used over much of the world.

That's a typhoon. It's the Pacific version of the
Atlantic hurricane.
