Can someone explain to me how T-9 word works?

T9 trys to auto fill words for you as you are texting so if you type in the letters M-o then it might fill in the rest of the word Mobile trying to guess what you're trying to type. I personally hate it but it does remember words that you frequently use and it can be faster for some people.
