I've decided to invest in my first record (vinyl) player, and would appreciate any suggestions as to what I should buy, what brands are good, where to but it etc.

I'm trying to buy on a budget, so nothing too expensive.
Thanks.

Jeff:
In fact most bands and musicians (and by this I mean real bands, not MTV stuff) still release their material on vinyl, and any good music shop will have a decent selection of records, both new and old.

Pro-Ject are a very good budget make, with turntables starting from £120 for the Debut Mk III model.

Goldring also make a highly reviewed turntable (the GR-1) at around £100. You won't get anything decent for less than that, though.

You could easily spend £15,000 for a high end turntable!!

The highest possible reproduction quality. This generally means great expense. Good Luck!

I didn't know they still made them, and I know for sure that they don't make records anymore!
