Sure, why not? Actually it was pretty muddy this weekend and I did quite a bit of walking outside, guiding people around and even worked the field/garden a little while when it was quiet.

No, I do that and wear sandals or tennies in the summer. I have worn rubber boots and run the hose down inside when it got too hot, but my feet are too tender to go barefoot and you never know what sharp little things may be in the mud.

I wouldn't. There are all kinds of molds and such to get under your nails and even a minor cut. Some people are much more sensitive than others. When we think of barefoot hillbillies, they lived from birth with whatever occurred locally and adapted to whatever critters where there. If you do be sure to wash and moisturize you feet every day. The mud will rot your feet.

Yeah, you never know what could be in the mud.... what about water shoes, or water sandals? Thats what I use when I wash the dog, theres also germs and parasites in the mud.

I doubt that would happen in my line of work but if I had a job like that I would for sure. I love working barefoot.
