That could be a brand name. I would just call it a wool-nylon blend.

editing - Yes ukquilter, I am being stalked by someone who uses my name and posts cruel things about my disabled child. I am very unhappy about it but what can ya do?

I did a search and I really couldn't find anything specific, except wool and nylon blends. When I was young, we called it wash wool, because you could stick it in the washing machine. But I couldn't even find that referenced.

Simonis [TM] is a wool-nylon blend used for the surface of billiard tables.

Baise is traditionally 100% wool.

Hiccup (?ex-Kacky) is right - if there is a name it's probably a registered trade name. I think you mean baize, which is the surface for snooker or pool tables, but I have feeling that is pure felted wool.
