There are not too much ressources, nor a strategic position so why would anyone bother to help the people of Myanmar? in Iraq they went even if there were no mass destruction weapons...in Myanmar monks are being killed but of course why bother helping them if there`s nothing in there to GET?! Why doesn`t anyone do something?

Well the UN has sent a fact finder to make a report. The USA has impposed economic sanctions aganist the regime. Myanmar is a closed world much like North Korea or Iran. international powers aside from China have little influence on there policies. Also this is a internal matter. Iraq was not due to Gulf war 1. Would you want The UN sending people to Alabama just because of the Jena 6 for example????

In MY opinion, the U.S. has nothing to do with Myanmar/Burma. We have no reason to step in unless they move against us. Just like with Iraq. I do not believe that there were any WMD's, but that "W" sent our troops there because Saddam Hussein was taunting him. I feel badly that our troops are still there; that husbands, wives and families are separated by this war - some permanantly.....and I pray that it ends very soon so that our troops can come home safely.

The international community is made up of people - people who (may) have selfish interests. It's the old "What's in it for me" attitude, and it's stupid as far as I'm concerned.
