but black people, hispanics, asians, jews, women, etc also face bigotry and discrimination and many people beleive that a paticular race is not biologically as "good" as a superiorior racfe - jake, so why not them too?

the reason is because transgender people people suffer the same bigotry in our society that gay/bi and lesbian people do.. a lot of the same assumptions are made by the ignorant.. like "they couldn't possibly make good parents"... "they're deviant and immoral"... "they're just going through a phase"... "something must have happened that made them hate themselves so much that they want to change their gender"... and the assumption that they're gay automatically puts them under the same microscope that we all are under.... I think it's fitting to have them as part of our LGBT

Transgender persons are persecuted the same as those who are homosexual or bisexual. This is mostly because people just dont understand. You have the group of people that believe it's a sin, or the group that believe it's all perverse, and there is the group that thinks we are seriously sick and that it's all a mental disease.

These people don't understand and so they have grouped us all together and as such we have become a community. Unfortunately not all of the LGB part of the community is as accepting of the T as they could be. This is because there is still the difference. Transgender is not about sexual preference. It about gender and the physical sex the body is.

Asian, hispanic, black people etc. are all apart of this community. We have people from all races. However the discrimination that blacks and hispanics and asian and other cultures get is not the same kind of discriminiation. Theirs is a racial discrimination. Thus they don't fall into the same kind of community.

Because we're hated by the same people and hurt by the same philosophy. If we stay divided instead of uniting, then we can't gain any status in society. As Abraham Lincoln said, "A house divided against itself cannot stand."

That's a very good question; as a transsexual lesbian, I've often wondered that myself.
There doesn't seem to be any good reason for 'transgender' people to be included under the LGB banner, unless they are ALSO lesbian, gay or bi.

Closed-minded people thinking that if someone is Transgendered then they *must* be gay...

Whatever, at least it gets a letter.
