motherboard PC Chip socket 775 has a 4pin cpu connector.

Yes. Some fans are PWM and use 4 pins. There is usually a plastic tab sticking out from board at cpu fan header. Just align the 3 pin connector with it and plug it in on the 3 pins the tab is centered on. The fan will work except not in PWM mode. There may be a setting in bios for the PWM function which should be turned off if using a 3 pin fan.

I believe they make 3 to 4 pin converter

you can buy the adapter at most compurer hardware stores
if your cheep you can build one but the new one is less thain $2

yes .. it may not function correctly tho .. and u may need to switch leads in the plug .. u need to know which leads are which and which pins do what on the board ..
