The USA would not be needed. As noted above, both the UK and France have nukes. In addition, conventional forces may be enough. Russia and China may have more troops, but western Europe has better technology.

I don't think anyone really believes that Russia, and least of all, China, would want to invade Europe. Your question is designed to provoke answers about the relationship between the USA and its 'ungrateful' allies. So let's get this straight: there are no free lunches as they would say in the US. When the USA entered the WWII, it was not out of some charitable motive. The UK, for one, paid a heavy price for US involvement. The Marshall Plan was a loan scheme, and nothing was gifted. It emptied our Treasury for years. Also, the US realised (after sitting on its hands for a long time) that unless it joined in, it would not be able to get involved at the top table of world powers and if Germany won, the US would have to give up its aspiration to be the top dog in the world. It would be Germany, or Russia, if the latter won. So let's not talk about the ungrateful allies biting the hand that helped it. It was self-interest that dragged the reluctant US in. And if Russia invaded, then the US will get involved because if it didn't, its days as a super power will be finished. Nothing riles the yankees as much as not being able to be a super power.

Because of NATO we would be dragged in.
Personally I rather that we looked the other way. Europe as a whole hates the USA because we won't kiss their rear ends.
Most Europeans are snobs. Noticed, I said most and not all. There are some who do like the USA but they are few and far between. Although France is making a turn around especially with their new Prime Minister or President.
Russia can take out Europe on any day of the week. Europe is not a war machine. They depend on the USA to do all the fighting for them. China would have a much harder time attacking Europe because of distance and having no bases near Europe from which to launch an attack from land or air.

China has every potential of invading Russia not combining an effort against Europe any time soon. China needs her resources. Russia is not to be counted out yet as Putin leaves we may see some changes. Then again he just fired his cabinet and now can help find his replacement. Russia has oil resources not yet tapped. A great reason for legendary fights.
??Who the heck is sydneyvicious? The Buzznet link or porn blog??
Should the US help? We always do. China is sending us tainted goods and has the computer Trojan horse thing up their sleeves. They are against US even now.
Japan will be in there with US as will other nations with nuclear capacity. Iran will be against the US and take the opportunity to get US back. World War 3. ANd these days a more expanded global event. Not a good scenario. Pray that diplomacy works, NATO provides some common sense & peace. Thanks. Sorry I don't get your link as requested.

Hi
I left the force's in 1979, and then it was the idea of the USA to advocate a tactical nuclear war in Europe if this ever happened. this would mean targeting incoming army's with nuclear weapons on European territory. Let's face it thy would be OK in the states!
Also Rusher has already attacked, Who ones the gas for the EU?

At the moment I think Europe would win with or without American help. You might not like the french but there Army should not be under estimated. the German seem to be not bad at fighting in the last two wars and nobody has managed to successfully invade the UK for about 1000 years.
I suspect the US would see it in it national interests to help out, even if its two years late as usual.

I don't think i would worry too much about Russia , since the USSR broke up they are not so powerful. Now China they are a different matter , but i would think there would be more chance of them attacking the USA.

I don't know why they should bother as the present dictatorship in Brussels would only be replaced by one that did not hide behind the facade of democracy.

France and England have nukes. If they choose to not use them then let the Russians have Europe. A continent that will not defend itself is not worth defending.

just because a few people were rude about Americans doesn't mean to say we are all the same. i think the mentality of some users speaks for itself and its best not to rise to it or lower yourself with questions like this. this question is as provocative as the other.
