I was seven years old when I started reading the newspapers.
My family lived in a small town with the printing press right across the street from where we lived so I started selling newpapers for a nickel a paper at the age of seven.

I started to read the comics when I was about 7. By the time I was in senior school, I was reading a newspaper. We had to, as part of our language lessons.

I was probably 7 or 8. It was a very small town paper and still carried gossip type stories like "Mr and Mrs Doe had dinner with Mr and Mrs . Smith last thursday night. Roast beef was served and everyone had a good time". I think I read those things to my mother while she worked in the kitchen.

8 years old. However it was the UK's Daily Mail, so it doesn't really count! I read the paper every day if I could and my life and opinions changed dramatically the day I began reading the Independant (also UK) when I was 16.
8 years of tabloid journalism was suddenly contrasted with real issues and real people's problems.
Amazing.
