In most states it's 30 days. If the landlord withholds anything they must give you a list it was and the amount deducted for repair or replacement. You'd do well to insist on a walk through with the landlord and ask him to point out anything he sees that may want him to charge against your deposit so you have time to take care of it.

Normally the deposit needs to be returned within 30 days of notice that the property has been vacated. This will depend on state laws and the individual lease you signed. Should not exceed 60 days.

That depends upon state law as well as the terms of your lease. Generally the LL must render a full accounting and refund any balance within 30 days of the date you surrender the property to the landlord.

Hi,
The laws vary from State to State. In Vermont the law allows up to 14 days to mail or hand deliver it back to the tenant. You can check the statutes for your state by going to your local library.
