I think it goes like this. The reaction you take for situations has to be the opposite of what you've been doing. You give in to easy. Don't react to things in the way you feel is easy. Stick to your guns if your pissed. That's all you have to do. I personally have trouble doing that. So, when it going gets to rough I just disappear. Last night I had to do what I think is a little reverse psyc. My step children came to visit and we were spost to go camping. We get to the campgrounds and all his kids want to do is fight and nag. Instead of doing my usual and disiplining them for half the night until they give in -I just left. Maybe that wasn't exactly reverse psyc, but it sure was easier than trying to figure out a way to deal. Good luck because I think reverse psyc will just wear you out! It's easier to just get away from the person.

Say you need a teen to behave in an orderly fashion - you say something like "I know you are a very well behaved boy Billy (even if he is a brat) so I know that I will be able to depend on you (even if he is totally irresponsible) and I know you won't let me down (even if he has done so in the past)".
It usually works a treat.
In other words, speak the words of the actions you want the person to do.

Yuck, that's an ugly head game. It involves finding a way to make the other person feel like they did something wrong. Like if you hit him, then tell him you had to do it because he misbehaved. Horrible way to live.
