Sailor-

Yes. The thime between new editions seems to be going WAY faster now. We hadda wait several years between em. It's discouraging. You buy all these damn books & then bam! They're deliberately obsolete.

All about $$$.

I started playing D&D in 2nd Ed. I now play regularly in two campaigns, using 3.0 and 3.5. I'm not really looking forward to 4.0, they should have waited another few years before releasing it.

I've played DnD since about a year before 3.0 came out so I've played 2nd edition, 3.0, 3.5, and am anxiously awaiting 4e. I'm liking the few tidbits they've dropped about the new edition so I think it'll be a positive change for the game. I also like the way they are implementing a decent virtual tabletop system with their DnD Insider thing.(well I'm hoping it'll be decent anyway)

I've tried OpenRPG and others but they all seem to try to do too many things and end up being too complicated for a casual user.

I'm not too keen on it being a monthly fee though... oh well 10 bucks a month is worth it I suppose since it includes the Dragon and Dungeon virtual-magazine subscriptions

I've played em all! Been at it for about 30 years. I currently play 3.5. with 8 adults and my oldest boy. At first I was surprised about a 4th edition so soon, but from a business standpoint it's about right and I think they have a good fresh back to basics approach. As TheDM for my group I've decided to finish off our campaign using 3.5 which will give me time to read up on 4th. It's sounding better as I learn more. I"m actually feeling a bit excited about it. I'm really looking forward to the DM tools for online gaming. Several of my best players have moved away and we have kept their game alive using Yahoo Groups. Combining the groups with a monthly "live" virtual table top game will be a blast and breath new life into our long distance game. So to answer your first question... 8 adults here

I Have players 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 3.5. I am looking forward to 4th, but I dislike how many books will be almost useless soon.

But I don't hear the "HOLO 3" players complaining about a new version, why???

I remember in the mid 80s when you guys were all accused of devil worship and witch craft. Ah, Ronnie the Popular and his "moral crisis".
