Twenty20 has already overtaken ODIs in popularity if the recent world cup matches are any indication. If you ask all the ODI lovers if they'd like to replace the ODIs with Twenty20, a majority of them would say yes. It is just that ODIs are still scheduled and players have to play them. I guess, if there was a choice, people would like to totally replace ODIs with Twenty20 matches.
By reducing the overs played, you're giving players less time to display all their skills......which means more fun. We've had a hatrick, six sixes in an over already in the first tournament. We've seen six sixes in an over only twice before in international cricket. With twenty20 we'd see more. What's more, you dont have to wait for the result for an entire day. Even if ODIs are played at an average run-rate of 6 runs an over, you still have to wait for the entire day to know the result.
With the passage of time, as more Twenty20s are played, ODIs would surely die. Moreover for cricket purists there's always a Test Match. SO ODIs are kind of marginalized in between.
ICC will definitely support the Twenty20 format since its gonna be more popular which means more money. It will also be easier for them to bring other teams (new nations) on board.
Zee ICL's stand of playing only twenty20 matches is therefore vindicated.

Definitely, Twenty20 cricket will overtake ODIs not only in popularity but in every aspect. And ICC will face problems with it. Zee ICL should come face to face with BCCI in every aspect of cricket, for the progress of cricket in India.

T20 has its own thrill, but it cannot replace 50-50 one dayers, T20 is a shorter version of the game and very good for batting and bowling practise and will be held once in a year and 50-50 version is always on year round as per ICC, regarding Zee's ICL, it has to struggle hard to gain foothold in the cricket arena, because most of the good/best players are not joining it

hmm... when the ODI cricket started the pplz asked the same question for test matches...
but i personally think that every game or type of sport has it's own thrill and excitement... the excitement is totally different in ODI's , test and 20 20 matches...
and i think ICC should take such measure to keep the people interested in ODI and test matches side.

Since Twenty/20 matches are not scheduled as frequently as ODI, the popularity of ODI will continue till such time Twenty/20 matches are played more frequently.

50-50 is the best matches. but In this time, anybody has not much time to see the ODIs matches. but 20-20 matches go to end in 2 or 3 hours. it is very sort time. and everyone can see the matches.
