There are so many to choose from. I'd say the best overall Nicholson film and performance would have to be "Chinatown." I know Jack won the Oscar for "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest," but I've never liked that film, I've always found it too depressing to watch.
I really like "Five Easy Pieces" and "Easy Rider" (although that film really belongs to Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda as Jack isn't in it long).
"The Shining" is another terrific film, but unfortunately, it marked the start of Jack's overacting phase in films like "Batman," "Witches of Eastwick" and "Wolf."
Thankfully, he's back doing more serious roles now although I thought "The Departed" was hugely overrated and that Jack wasn't that great in it. Then again, he doesn't have to prove himself now, he's done it all at this stage.

I love all of Jack Nicholson's movies but if I had to pick one I would say "A Few Good Men"
