Ok so my 3.5yr old had a bad case of sinusitis which he gave to me,and its killing me. my head hurts and my cheek bones feel like someone just punch me, i am 15.5 weeks pregnant and was wondering if there is anything aside from tylenol that i can take? i want to have some Lemon Tea with honey but a friend told me that can cause a miscarriage, is this true? What foods or things did you drink to make your sinusitis go away?
I have spoken to the doctor and he says i shouldn't take anything and just to let nature take its course.I just want something to ease the symptoms.
Thanks

Lemon tea with honey will NOT cause a miscarriage. That is a myth. And honey is perfectly safe for a pregnant woman (though not safe for a newborn). http://parenting.ivillage.com/pregnancy/psafe/0,,3wd1,00.html

Sinusitis is an infection but will eventually go away on its own even without antibiotics, but there is nothing you can do to make it go away, except take in a lot of Vitamin C (oranges, orange juice, vitamin c supplements). Your body does not store Vitamin C-it just gets rid of whatever it doesn't use- so you can take a lot of it and it will still be safe.

To ease the symptoms, try taking a warm shower and letting the steam open up your nasal passages. And I agree with the warm compress idea that someone else had.

Good luck.

Drinking tea with honey will not cause you to have a miscarriage. I have heard, though, that drinking Chamomile tea during pregnancy might cause you to get cramps. Of course this is something my mom told me. I remember having really bad sinus and allergy problems during part of my pregnancy and my doctor told me I could take ONE regular benadryl. Keep in mind that you might want to discuss this with your doctor since I was into my 5th or 6th month of pregnancy when I started taking them. Oh, and I recommend that if you can have a Benadryl, that you can take a nap cause it will make you very drowsy.

I've heard that baths are not good for pregnant women, and I'm not sure how enclosed your bathroom is...ANYWAY, I'm referring to a steam treatment for relief of the sinus pressure.
Even boiling some water and standing overhead might be easier. Lemon tea with honey should be just fine, but if you want more home remedies, webmd.com has some.
Hope you're feeling better soon.

Try a cool compress on your head, and cheeks... Eat cold foods like Trader Joes or Edy's fruit bars. they help, drink plenty of water, ease off with the tylenol, and get plenty of rest...
Good Luck!
