If you like the touch for features, then spend a little more and get an iPhone, and just don't activate it. If you want to listen to music, then go classic or go nano.
Hope this helps,

16 GB is a lot of room. i have had my 5th generation ipod video for like 6 months now and i dont even have 2GB full! you may think 16 GB is a little because the new ipod classic boasts a 160 GB memory capacity, but trust me, no ones gonna fill up a 160 GB ipod, and if you listen to small amounts of music, 16 GB will give you PLENTY of room to grow your music collection. Plus, you can download songs to the touch without a computer, it has a large screen, it has wi-fi, it has touch interface, and its BEAUTIFUL!!!!! my only problem with it is that its almost exactly like an iphone but it doesnt have a phone or a camera. but other than that, GET THE TOUCH!!!

If you want a bigger screen for video, the Touch would make sense. However, if you want to store and watch a LOT of videos without re-sync-ing your iPod, then you may want to get the 80 GB Classic.
The Touch uses flash-drive technology, and so has fewer moving parts. This is theoretically more reliable and less prone to problems if you drop it. The Classic has a hard drive with moving parts, which not only can be more easily damaged, but also eats up a bit more battery life.
One caveat, though. There are ubiquitous Internet postings about screen problems on the Touch, i.e., it's too dark. It seems that Apple may have fixed this, but I would wait a month or so to buy it, and be certain to get a fixed version.

I have a old Classic. 80 gig. I have over 12k songs and it still is only approximatly 56 gig of music. I do not use video files though. I would assume if I have movies and such on it I would possibly fill it up. I love my Ipod and would not trad it for anything. I have not had one problem with it and I use it on long runs it has been rained on in a freak rain storm and dropped it a few times.
Of course the new Technology in the touch is top notch but I have read reviews of the display being a little flaky. I reckon you should descide if you dont listen to alot of music if your willing to spend 200-400 dollars or go with a better finacial option in say a samsung model or something. I think eigther way you would be saticfied!

i would say get the Touch. i mean how many songs can you listen to at one go? but if you really need the space then get the Classic. at most you just have to keep updating your library if you get the Touch, and that can be a good thing. and plus the Touch is different. plenty of people out there already have normal ipods but the Touch is still relatively new

I also have the same problem as you.
However I made up my mind and I'm going to wait and see of Apple is planning on releasing an iPod touch with more storage. The iPod classic does look VERY nice, but the touch is just simply amazing.
So yea, personally I'd wait and see if Apple announces anything. If you get tired of waiting, eitehr settle for the 16GB touch, or go for the 80GB classic.

16 GB it ALOT!!! trust me, with 16 GB youll only listen to about 200 songs? and then you'll have like 14 GB left which is still alot, then fill the rest with movies and in 14 GB you'll get more than 10 movies, and when you're done or when you're bored of a movie, just delete it and put another one. and trust me, 16 GB is not a little!

If you want the touch, go for it. I wanted a iPod photo a few years ago but got the mini to save money and I still think it was a dumb idea. get what you really want even if it means you'll have to leave a few songs out.
