I think it helps a lot particularly if you know something about the subject and then answering as thoroughly as possible. A little sense of humor helps too. Of course some give the best answer because they simply like the person answering. Many times I've thought I had given the best answer to a question but wasn't given it for obvious reasons that I have no control over so I just have fun with it all anyway.

I think over an answer, which is also what comes into my head. I tend to mull over what I put down before I put it down. Most of the time, anyway. I also type about 100 wpm, which helps.

When I answer a question I try to make it as funny as possible but if I do know the answer I answer as honestly as I can and if I think the Asker is doing something stupid I'll blunty point it out.

It depends. I think over my answers, but sometimes a smart snap is required to properly answer a question. So really A and B.

Natural instinct and try to be helpful in reply as majority of questions are because the questioner would like a reply. Daft questions I ignore as waste of time and space.
