you can tell me how and why it changed too if you know. I meant the development process of how it changed from the classical education which students are required to read Aristotle, etc. or moral education to the system nowadays.

I cannot tell you a book, however it is failing because of parents.

Parents interfere with teachers because they do not want their child disciplined or they don't want their child in a low reading/math/science/social studies class even when the child would benefit from it (parents ego).

Parents also do not continue education in the home, they expect teachers to teach their children everything from schoolwork to manners and nutrition. And they expect the teachers to do this without being able to make the 20 kids in the class behave without fear of a lawsuit.

One way to get answers is to get the text books used at the nearest teacher's training school for teaching history of education - they should be in the library. More or less honest.
Most of the books demanding change in the system will have a chapter of history, although each may leave out steps.
Just as one point, my great aunt graduated from high school in 1895 and between then and June 1906, taught in three different school districts for 2,2, and 5 years leaving her no more than a year to take Normal classes which were about teaching and seemed to have only a few months of Normal and a few months of Art classes. She quit to get married because teachers were not allowed to be married. She spent almost all summers in her home town living with her parents because that is what respectable teachers did.
One major change in the system occurred just after WWII when people came back from the war and war employment of women and had different attitudes toward schooling.
