The truth is vastly easier to utilize than a falsehood. Lies are high maintainence, once they're established. The truth is rooted in your honest perception of reality, and therefore is easier to index; recall, since there is only one example to pick from. Lies are often so contrived and contorted by unique application that they become undiscernable one from the next.
No matter what your point, honesty is the easiest policy.

Your question is an oxy moron. If you can learn from your mistakes then it wasn't a mistake. Take life how it comes, do what you think best. Others may think you are wrong and they could be right but you will never know until you are wrong or right. The question is a never ending cycle. There are only a few things that are truly wrong. They are stealing, murder, rape and a few other discretion's.
My parents always told me everything I did was wrong. Quitting jobs I didn't like to travel the country and find one I liked better is not acceptable to them. But that is not truly wrong and therefor not a mistake.
The bottom line is you can only learn from your own experiences. If you are trying to avoid mistakes you are delusional, we all make them. Chose your own path and take it.

Marcia's got a biggy. To me the one. Intuition and commons sense and you can handle everything. It's the best indicator of success and happiness in life. Them's the scintific findings. Emotional Intelligence now for jobs, people skills and hireability and I wouldn't try to have a life with someone without 'em. What happens is you connect the two halves of the brain. Half a brain is a sorry thing to go through life with. lol Now they say that's what genius was all about all along. Turffs be stanger than fictions.

Perhaps the best lesson I've learned in 51 years is to be completely honest and to always show consideration for others. Good manners count. This may sound preachy, but church is a great forum for learning about life and people and about yourself. Find a group you're comfortable with and tune in. Best wishes on your journey.

Life is too important to take seriously.- Me Whatever you want to do, do it now. Do good, avoid evil and stay out of the refrigerator - Brother Juniper. Trust everybody, but cut the cards. Never ascribe to malice that which can be explained with sheer human stupidity. Beware the stupid, whether on your side or not. When you count on them for anything they will fail you, and usually at the worst possible moment. Their erratic behavior makes them more dangerous than your enemies.

Never cook bacon naked.
Never open a cup of yogurt on a plane.
Be honest, open, and forthright.
Don't be afraid to try new things.
A single act of kindness can make a person's day.
Smile more.
That one thing you've been wanting to do...do it.
And most all some of my favorite quotes..
from Thomas Paine "That which we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly"
from Socrates "The only good is knowledge; the only evil is ignorance."

When flying in an airplane, leave the pretty buttons alone. Don't try to cross swollen streams in a car or on foot. Remember condoms have expiration dates for a reason.

if you should happen to find yourself in a haunted house where all the previous tenants have been horribly and gruesomely murdered; where you and your incredibly attractive teenage friends are staying for the weekend. if all your friends leave to go buy some beer, and you start to hear scary music,.....it's probably not a good idea to take a shower just then....
seriously, one good tip. surround yourself with people who are better then you. habits and ideas are contagious. they rub off on you even if you arent aware of it.
