Thought I'd clear that up before people moaned about it being McCann related! I've watched the story unfold with a fairly open mind. I tend to be an asker, not a judger. I always felt though that there were a lot of questions that still needed to be asked and answered about the case. I came across this video and I think it has really summed up many of my, and other people's thoughts on the case. I'm interested to know your views on the film and its content and whether you think there are other questions that should be raised?

It also has beautiful music and when the song came on, yes I did cry for her

Pat R - What from that video has been disproved? Can you be more specific? Like I said, I'm not judging, I'm asking.

Plato - This video expresses somebody's opinion and thoughts. As I said, it did mirror many of my thoughts. This is not an impartial documentary. If somebody's view is of suspicion towards the parents, how is expression of that view "obscene"? As far as I am aware everything said in the film is factual (Pat R says that it isn't but has yet to elaborate on her answer). How is my sharing my feelings towards the film and asking others for their comments "obscene"? I have read and respected all comments offered, regardless of whether I agree with them or not. Is your definition of "obscene" any opinion which contradicts yours? Just what part of "freedom of speech" do you have a problem with?

Plato - I really, honestly, don't care if you agree with me or not, we are all equally entitled to our opinions. However I have to ask, when you say that death is obscene would you also say that birth is obscene? After all they are merely opposite ends of this journey we call life. Even accepting that as your view of death the question then has to be has it been proved beyond any doubt that Maddie is dead? It appears to be you that is dealing in supposition.

CT posted this video too. It is very moving and I was tearful when I watched it, as were quite a few I think. It was a video for Madeleine above all. I don't think it was nasty, it asked the questions that many of us have asked time and again. Those questions need answering.
The music, particularly the Portuguese 'fado' beat anything that Brian Ferry sang on the Madeleine website. Much more sensitive than anything the McCanns could produce, but it struck me that there was a degree of love in the making of this video.

The video producer has gone to great lengths and with some skill to make his point heard. The video helps to clarify the key points which make a percentage of the public believe the McCanns were involved.

The video does take the conspiracy theory too far by implicating Gordon Brown. Raising doubts about the neutrality of the press doesn't really help either because at the end of the day no commercial organisation can make claims against the McCanns without any evidence and even the Police dont have enough to prosecute.

I still feel myself they are involved but more clear cut cases have gone to court and fell through. My feeling is they have overdosed the kid accidentally with sedative and have colluded in time honoured medical profession tradition to cover up the evidence.

Only time will tell and only God can truly bring them to justice.

I'll tell you -- this one puzzles me as much as the Ramsey case did. One thing that one has to be careful about is to over-analyze post tragedy behavior. There is no "correct" way to behave after something like this might happen, and even for parents that are totally innocent of a child's disappearance, they will surely do and say certain things that will cast suspicion over them. Of course, in many (or is it most?) similar cases, it does turn out that one or both of the parents is involved (it always struck me as odd that the Ramsey's were shocked(!) SHOCKED(!) that they were considered under suspicion for Jon Benet's murder).

As far as the video is concerned, there are some propaganda styled methods to it, such as alternating pictures of a smiling Madeleine, with scowling parents. Actually, there's a much more comprehensive article about the whole thing in People Magazine this week. One thing I learned is that it was the British investigators, and not the Portuguese, who found Madeleine's DNA in a car rented by the McCann's 25 days after the disappearance -- so obviously, there are at least some Brits who suspect them as well. The point was made, however, that it would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, for the McCann's to hide their daughter's body for 25 days, if they indeed used this car to move the body.

As with the Ramsey case, I'm burning with curiosity as to what really happen. Sadly, we may never know.

I've watched it - and the music it's soothing - and YES there are so many other questions to answer but most of these questions are not in that video. However, all these questions must be answered and it is only the matter between the police and the McCanns to answer them. WE the spectators (that's exactly what we are) cannot get a true value of the situation - especially from the newspapers reports and the television sensationalisms - YES, because that's all this is.

And finally maybe the British people would one day drop this double standards and get a grip on what reality is - we cannot all afford the best lawyers and depend on the millionaires - yet so many parents out there suffer the loss of a child.

Justice for Madeleine! Very thought provoking video. IMO from that photograph of Jane Tanner - she looks a shifty piece of work. Obviously not a very flattering photo of her!
So many people I speak to think that there are some very odd aspects to this case especially in regards to the parents and their party of friends.

I hope that the British establishment are not assisting in trying to cover anything up. I am still wondering if Clarence Mitchell is still not attached to the government in some form
maybe (MI5 MI6?).

From the sidelines this looks all very clear but I doubt it is. If anything the circumstances surrounding this case suggest that they are innocent. This is not uncommon, a child is abducted from their home, speculations are branded as fact and the parents are labeled as murderers. It sickens me that people will judge family members without concrete evidence of their guilt. I say this because I am personally acquainted with someone who had been through this nightmare. Let's not start a witch hunt.

Edit: I think it is wise that the McCann's hired attorneys and are skeptical of cooperating with police. They need to find justice. I remain neutral as I can be but my experience says they are most likely innocent.

The parents don't come across in a good light do they?
What a beautiful little girl, how could they, 7 hours in the creche & left alone at night.
Shame on the British government & media, they have all let Madeleine down

2007-09-29 06:19:06 · answer #7 · answered by Anonymous · 2 0

A rather one sided view but one that is thought provoking nonetheless. Perhaps what really matters is the probability that an innocent child is unlikely to ever come back again. The parents may or may not be as innocent as OJ Simpson, but is that really relevant? They will now safely rely on the argument that media speculation has denied them the prospect of a fair trial, and so are highly unlikely to ever be put to the test. Distasteful though it may be, we need to accept this and move on.

The video is very sad and I really felt a lump in my throat looking at Maddie. However when looking at shots of Gery and Kate It made feel sick, Sorry but their faces are so unemotional, and frozen. Maybe it's just nerves but the pair of them look shifty. Also it is no more one sided than the documentary on ITV shown a few weeks ago with Trevor McDonald

Thought provoking video that just makes me want to cry!
I don't think we will ever see Maddie again. And I suppose
the speculation will go on.
You could say questions should be raised. But I would like to
say that I think the Portugese Police are making themselves a
laughing stock of themselves. We have Maddie sold off. Dropped in the ocean..Put in a feezer. etc. etc. They are
clutching at straws and haven't got a clue.
