My hypothesis is that first the big bang happened, we lived our lives and then after many billions of years the big crunch appears that turns the universe into what it was before the big bang. However what if time is in a loop, that the big bang and crunch happen time after time and we live our lives again and again without ever knowing we could be living our lives for the trillionth time in a row; making the same choices every time. Does this at all seem possible?

There are some big questions in the deep structures of your personal theory that you have proposed as a question to make it open for other opinions – so far so good. But the questions about the beginning of time and space, or about its ultimate end, baffle the mind, that we can only wonder perhaps without ever find any ultimate answer. However, the quest must go on, and people must ask, or suggest their theories in a bid to explain the unexplainable, and thus human mind must always stay curious about the world that it is if it is ever to exist in the world that it builds.

But in this case like most other, I would not underestimate the power and usefulness of simple common reason. I would like to ask - for what purpose would that happen? If we are not to realise that we have in fact lived through limitless reconfigurations of the same stuff, the universe, then what difference does it make if we have lived just once, or countless times.

The fact is that counting is not for the essence of existence; it is for the forms that emerge for their essence. In essence there is only one being, expressed is countless numerous forms. Then if I live, I live as all people that have ever lived before and after me, and if I could live just once then I also could live eternally countless times.

Just one problem with that theory - the universe is expanding almost exponentially. Meaning it has so much expanding energy it will never contract. Until a few years ago it was thought it was a 50/50 chance as to whether the universe has enough energy to continue expanding but the current thinking is that there is no possibility of the big crunch. The furthest reaches of the visible universe are receding at speeds greater then the speed of light. The matter isnt travelling that fast in space but space itself is expanding at more then the speed of light which doesnt violate either of the relativity laws because they only apply to matter in space and depend on your view point.
So because the Big Bang imparted this incredible amount of energy this time its highly unlikely that it would have contracted in a previous version of the universe. Which knocks down your theory. In fact the expanding/contracting ratio (for want of a better term) is so over balanced its like saying a butterfly will win a tug of war match with an elephant.
Sorry, better luck next time.

I think what happens before the big bang and after the end of the universe (assuming that it will end) is completely unreachable for our minds, because we can't even know if the very laws that rule our universe apply when the universe does not exist. All we can do is imagining theories but we can't know if they are true or not. So your theory is as possible as anything else.

Yup, seems perfectly reasonable. However, there are a million equally feasible hypotheses. Why chose yours?

Oh , I see, a bit like a cosmic groundhog day?, it's probably just as likely as any other theory, they are all barking!
