Real love is not a mundane attachment. We can love others in relationship to God also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, Rama, etc. That means seeing that they are all part of Him and no one is to be exploited. That doesn't mean we don't love certain individuals deeply and would very much miss their association if they where gone. If someone enlivens our spiritual advancement and love for God then we will naturally love them and miss them if not present. That is not considered an attachment in the negative sense. In fact it is necessary to have this for our spiritual development. We must love.

Love is a soul conscious experience. As long as we are soul conscious or divine there is love. When we become body conscious the the love becomes colored by impurity and we manifest it either as attachment or as hatred or as jalousy, anger... All these are a corrupt expression of that which was pure - of love.
It is like you take a glass of clean water and then you pour it into another one but through some colored cloth - the water will become colored. In the same way the pure love becomes colored when gowing through an impure consciousness. This means that as long as there is an impure intellect there cannot be love and it is ego that makes the intellect impure.
It also means that the more someone shows signs of hatred or jalousy the deeper that one's heart loves us. You cannot hate anyone that does not mean anything to you no matter how unright that one's attitude may be.
However it is not a virtue to express body consciousness nor is it desirable because it brings pain so the best thing one who feels attachment, hatred or jalousy is to learn to return to his purity and then love will emerge uncolored and that is very beautyful and divine. Love is purity and purity is the most beautyful and attractive and desired thing.
