the butterfly along with the dragonfly and a few other symbolic beings represent transformation.....if you see a butterfly in your home it means that someone there is going through a life change in some way..one who sees a butterfly in their home can be assured that they are going through a significant transformation of some kind, be it spiritual, physical, or emotional.....day or night does not matter when you see your little winged friend....(spriit guides come in all shapes and forms)

Base on my experience the presence of butterfly in the house has never bring bad omen to me and my family, it is more of a messenger of a good spirit that act as a bridge for us to know or hint what has happen to our kins or relative that are staying far from us.
Normally this insect always visited us, AFTER unexpected events happen to our kins. Never BEFORE.

the butterfly is the symbol of soul.white butterflies are consider to carry the souls of the dead.if someone close to you died resently it probably means they came to visit you. however i've never heard of butterlies being a bad omen.

It is the Luna Moth that launched the superstition. It is a very large Moth of a light yellow green color and two "eyes" on its wings. Landing on a wall in dim light it will appear to be a ethereal face as moths spread their wings on landing. A butterfly will be nearly invisible on landings as it closes its wings vertical to its body.
