hi all, i just got a new comp which has an intel 82945g (251mb) on it. i tried playing games like cs and dod, but the performance was very bad. on the other hand, i've got a geforce 4 440mx (64mb) in my old comp and it runs them better than the intel one although it has lower memory. why is this so? and should i fit it in instead?

82945G has GMA950 integrated graphics that just share from system RAM. If system RAM is small, its share will also be small. If system RAM is 1Gb or higher, it would maximize shared RAM. Also check if you have the GMA950 driver. Right click on desktop, Graphics Properties should be an option. If you select it, the blue GMA window should appear.

Your Geforce 4 440MX AGP card is NOT compatible with the x16 PCIe slot of a 945G motherboard.

If you have a motherboard with integrated graphics, never ever use it for gaming. Never.

Your GF440mx may be upto the job but get a newer card if possible. If you play Half Life 2 also, the newer card may well be needed.
