8 days overdue (doc wants to induce me next week) and I know I've asked a question about BH's before, but this is sort of a different subject in a way. So here is my question-

Are Braxton Hix contractions supposed to last for hours on end? I got them at about 11pm last night (the top of my tummy got rock hard all of a sudden) and now it's 4am and still my tummy is hard as a rock and so uncomfortable. My lower back hurts so much. I've been getting these all the time and instead of coming and going, they last for hours. Just wondering if any of you are going through the same thing and what do you do for relief.

I'm also feeling a lot of pressure down by my pelvic bone that just came out of nowhere as of 4:49am to make matters worse. It doesn't change if I stand up either :(

Actually, congrats, you are probably going into labor without your doctor inducing you.
BH's are like the last answerer said, usually fairly painless and don't last as long as that.
Real contractions get stronger and stronger and closer together.
The final countdown is when they are close enough to be timed and strong enough that it's hard to concentrate on anything else or talk while you are going through them.
I'd get with my doctor soon if I were you. :-)
Best wishes for an easy labor.

Try consuming a couple of glasses of water, maintain your bladder EMPTY and lay to your left facet. If all of that does not aid inside 30-60 mins, name both exertions/supply or your OB and notice what they endorse.

I did with all 3 of my pregnancies. The only relief I had was to lay down, if I could.
