Our solar system is called "the Solar System." It is NOT called "the Milky Way": that is the name of our galaxy, which contains our solar system and millions of others. I doubt we'll give the Solar System another name, because we still call our Sun, "the Sun," and our Moon, "the Moon," and our planet, "the Earth." We're not very good at naming our own stuff.
Scientists never use names like "Sol," "Terra," or "Luna"; only science fiction writers do. Though we do use the adjectives derived from them: solar, terran, lunar.

As the others have said it doesn't have a name - the only reason our galaxy has a name is that it was named before we knew what a galaxy was.
Its just like our sun not having a name - even though there are billions of suns in our galaxy we only knew about one for a long time so it is simply THE Sun - and though the moons of Saturn are named whimsically after female Shakespearean characters our own is simply and boringly THE Moon.
Our solar system is just 'the solar system'. Sometimes its called 'The terran system' in sci-fi as in the 'star system which contains earth'.
It may have been given a catalogue number by NASA or the ESA. You'd have to look in to that.

Perhaps our solar system already has a name to an alien civilization more advanced than ours. Its most likely that we won't need to give the solar system a name because we observe that solar systems form around a star, we name the star and name the planets surrounding it not the system itself, so our solar system to us would be known as the Sol system as our sun is called Sol.

If, we discover other solar systems ? Step out into the night and look up. Many of those points of light are stars (suns) and they have planets orbiting them, there are trillions of them probably more, they are solar systems but don't wait for the scientific community to tell you as it stands to reason that if our sun has planets surrounding it then most of those stars or suns also have the same. Of course many of those points of light aren't points of light they are actually far distant galaxies containing stars (suns) with planets orbiting them. It's mind boggling, just because we can't see them doesn't mean they aren't there and in spite of what the skeptics say our galaxy and the universe is teeming with intelligent life, many of whom are millions of years ahead of us many behind us. They visit and some hang around, deeply concerned about our future hoping that we wake up before we blow it and destroy this wonderfully diverse biosphere. The evidence is there if we look beyond our closed minds.

The Solar System doesn't seem to have a name although it may have a scientific reference we are unaware of. The "names" for other objects in the solar system:
Sun - Nearest name is it's classification it is a "G2V star". Sol seems to be a more science fiction name but it is cool.
Earth - Obviously is a name, by GeoffG's "logic" and so-called "best answer" we would be calling our planet "planet".
Moon - Is also a name as "the Moon" is actually a "satellite" orbiting the Earth. Luna is the latin/spanish for moon I believe and not its actual name. (I suppose this could be argued based on who named it what first).
Referring to other planets natural satellites as "Moons" is a common misnomer.
Basically GeoffG's answer to this is total waffle and I have no idea how it got "Top Answer"

Our Solar System is called The Earth System & our Sun is called The Earth Sun because our planet Earth has the only intelligent life in our Solar System. Any sci-fi head knows this :)
