I only had the shot ones, 7 months ago, and I still have irregular periods, Depo sucks, it only screws up your body. It takes about 12 months so it is completely wash out of your system, but you could still get pregnant and have problems with your pregnancy within the third to the 12 month after the shot has been taken.

After being on depo for 10 years, I just switched back to the pill. The warnings of bone loss over the web got to me. I'm 36 years old and realize bone loss isn't something to dismiss. I never really had any horror stories regarding the shot. I gained about 10 lbs over the 10 years but whose to say that wasn't just from my metabolism slowing down due to aging.
As for the pill, I just waited til I was due for my shot and had my doctor prescribe me YAZ. It's the shorter period pill. (24 active, 4 inactive pills.) Well after I started my 2nd pack I started my cycle, lasted about 4 days. I was surprised because some people say it takes months to get their period. Lucky me!
As for bone loss... I haven't been tested. I have always lifted weights(helps strengthen bones), so hopefully that has worked in my favor. Hope this helps!

Horrible four years.

Mood swings, weight gain, spotting at odd times, loss of libido.

Immediately went to Kariva after the last shot and got periods back in three months.
