Well, this is a controversial subject that always ends with someone very upset and nobody finish satisfied.
I think happiness is subjective, 'cos there is nothing quite specific to define the true meaning of itself. You cannot learn what does happiness mean in a dictionary, or in 'wikipedia' just to say an example, but you can provide yourself of the true meaning of happiness by just wondering to you: 'What makes me feel really joyful? What makes me cry by being too much excited? Whether it is "right or not right" for other people what you choose, you might put your convictions upon everything.. But!! as Benito Juarez told: "Respecting the others rights, makes the peace". I mean, you can pursuit your happiness by not interfering with the rest ot the people's rights, which includes their own pursuit of happiness.
Happiness is the principal achievement of everyone that love their selves. If you love 'you', and doing what you most like doing, you can love the world and live quietly and happily in your own way.
I believe that there is no thing such a 'complete-happily life'.
There is always something missing to reach the summit of greatness, something that impedes you to complete your perfect way to live.
Happiness is possible, the only matter is you to want it.

There is a difference between happiness and joy.
A condemned criminal awaiting execution in the morning can spend the night telling jokes and playing cards with every appearance of happiness. Happiness is busyness and focusing on pleasant things with the objective of forgetting the bad things.
Suppose this criminal has been pardoned and will go free in the morning. He still spends the night telling jokes and playing cards with every appearance of happiness. But busyness and forgetfulness are no longer the objectives. This is joy.

Happiness is a fleeting moment of absolute peace and contentment. It's never permanent and has to have the two together peace and contentment.
