I would probably wind up in a six-foot deep plot with no view. It's a nice piece of land, but trying to move later is very difficult.

Of corpse it would, but how on earth are you to know? You shouldn`t let it ground you down and there`s no point dwelling on it. You could always try lodge-ing a complaint with the mort-gage companies.
