well, any motivation that leads to terrorism is horrible, i dont know if any one is worst then another
i think a core motivation is to feel good or right about oneself, and rather then finding healthy ways to do that, some have to put others down, feel "better than" others, which then places the others in a "less than" perspective, others become wrong, less worthy,
while most of these "worthy, right better thans " dont go on to become terrorist, some do, there are also many other type crimes and discrimination based on this "better then" belief
it takes the ability to be able not to relate to your victims, not to be able to see them as the same as you, on a human level,
to be able to commit such things
it is only recently that we label it terrorism, it has gone on since the beggining of mankind, and you can see records of it since the beggining of recorded history

I second religion. Religion serves 4 purposes across 2 economic classes:
Upper Class - Privileged
1. Provides a tool for control and oppression
2. Provides an opportunity for spiritual profiteering
Lower Class - Poor and destitute
3. Provides hope for the intrinsically hopeful
4. Provides justification for the angry and hopeless
It is this last statement that is the chief motivator of terrorism. It is against the biological imperative to take ones own life. Only the confluence of two powerful influences (desperation and religion) can trump the biological imperative. When you have nothing and are disparate and have a world view that allows you to think you can attain a better life in the next world, then you get terrorism.

Islamic fundamentalist turned as militant outfits have established the strong base of suicidal terrorists,by motivating them mainly by the slogan of "JIHAD", meaning "to liberate", namely to liberate the ISLAM from the clutches of SATAN which they finger point first as "USA" and next all of its allies plus all those religions and its leaders who condemn them for their violence and attitude to others! Secondly, they also motivate the poorest Muslims from the African states by also giving them money and induce them for the terrorism!
Political terrorism has the ways to wind up, due to settlement or by elimination, but the religious extremism cannot go away easily unless the people themselves understand that the God and the religion is in no way involved in their way to achieve their objectives! Among all the religious fundamentalist and extremist forces the people owing allegiance to Islamic Jihad or whatever they call in equivalent are found to be the most inhuman and barbaric in their acts of violence and terrorism!
In IRAQ today they have killed half a million of their own brothers and sisters and the same continues in various parts of the world! No doubt, they are condemned by one and all world over, including the best Islamic scholars and politicians!
Brother Amore D has voiced not to pin point ISLAM for the terrorism. Yes you are fully right, ISLAM does not differentiate peole of other faith, nor it accepts the inhuman voilence and all that is practiced and forced by the Islamic fundamentalist and to say very precisely the terrorists have nothing do with ISLAM but only to do all against it!

There are NOT terrorists in all religions, it is islam and muslims who have decided to hate and destroy or enslave the world. I personaly define a terrorists as one who takes unofficial destructive action against others, for religious purposes. For instance, the Irish liberation army or whatever its called, as well as osama and his turds.

it motivates us to b angry wid muslim countries. But it is not like that.but the mentality is like that.i also feel that the terrerist is one who has nothing to do at all with his family and he has some intentions to harm someone.so i feel everyone who is free from his family and is living individually and no one is there to support him can go for terrorism.so stop this by participating in anti-terrorism activities.thanku.
