We all forget and sometimes there is a blessing in that but if you mean a physical reason for memory loss then dementia might be what you are looking for. That can come at any age if there is substance abuse involved. But sometimes the heredity of a person at a certain age triggers brain cells to change abnormally and memory loss is the result.

There is also Alzheimer's Disease, which is a degradation of the brain and leads to dementia, and eventually can lead to death.
