Or is this a generalisation I just came up with?

Whats menopause anyway other than the obvious? More mood swings?

It's a generalisation you just came up with. Feminists typically are not typical. But we will keep in mind that we should check our hormone levels regularly so none of us loses it and accidently destroys a planet. Now if only the people with the power to destroy the planet would do that...

What a stupid question! I hope it was asked in jest! Feminists are people that believe both men and women are equal...and men can be feminists too!!
I'm 24 and have been a feminist for as long as I can recall...
"People call me a feminist simply because I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat."
Only a man would ask this question, because he is scared that women are realising how intelligent and empowered they are and that we do not need men to to live happily and successfully!!
And why would it have anything to do with menopause? Women do not need an abundance of emotion to think about the big picture...so yes, a generalisation indeed.

Well, I've identified myself as a feminist since I was about eight years old, and I'm 23 now, so I kind of hope that I'm not nearing menopause!

As for your second question, I believe menopause does indeed entail more of the "emotional stuff". See, the testosterone in a woman's body actually raises to a level equal to the amount of estrogen in her body. So, as you can imagine, that leads to all sorts of crazy physical anomalies, like cold spells, hot spells, violent mood swings (think of what you experienced during puberty to get an idea), and depression. Eventually the hormones balance out again and everything's cool. But yeah, it's supposed to be a very confusing and aggravating time in a woman's life. I can't wait... Ugh.

Some Very Wise Advice....
Please, for your own safety! Do not ask that Question 2 a group of women out in the real world.....
There are Feminists in all age groups! And strongly doubt that menopause has any relevance to how or why any of these women developed their Ideals and Beliefs.

Feminists, those seeking equal emotionally and social equality for women may be 'older women' because older women have had some negative experiences with men and have learned the importance of self reliance and emotional independence, which some men resent who had hoped to control them emotionally, or however. Feminist attitudes can come from your little sister who doesn't want a mean brother to stuff her dolls down the toilet before flushing. One never knows how pesky women acquire an attitude of independence. Alot to needy clingy women are going through Menopause in their 40's and beyond, sometimes sooner so I don't think just because a woman embraces a feminist attitude she is a bitchy old bag. Maybe she realizes it is unrealistic to assume men who may love her are all going to be knights in shining armour willing to cater to her every whim.. Maybe she is willing to care and love a man but assume some of her own financial burden and choices and that isn't a bad thing for either sex. Many blessings

Depends on your definition of feminism. If you take the belief in abortion rights as your litmus test for feminism, I'd have to say no. The vast majority of anti-abortion women I've known have been menopausal and post-menopausal females. In other words, the females most likely to be against abortion rights are precisely the ones who no longer have any use for the right to an abortion.

I've believed in equality as long as I can remember- long before the subject of feminism was taught in school. It's "written" in most (if not all) women's hearts from the time they are old enough to have formulated a basic concept of "self". Society does a good job trying to warp it right out of us, but most of us are strong enough to hold onto what we have always known to be true: that we are just as valuable and worthy as men are. We are NOT inferior! This belief has nothing to do with menopause. It has everything to do with the measure of strength of the human spirit.

It has been said that the concept of feminism was contrived to allow unattractive women access to the mainstream media.
