Yes. I've got two set up as follows:
DSL -> modem -> router1 -> router2
I treat router2 as my "internal" network and router1 as an "open" network. Router2 does mu dhcp for me, but is configured with a static IP address for router1. Router1 is at 192.168.0.1 while router2 is at 192.168.1.1. Two different nets. You can't get from router1 to devices on router2, but you can go the other way.
Another method is if both routers support a bridge mode. Most don't but there are a few that do. Basically, one would be the master and the other would simply bridge wireless activity to the master.

Two wireless routers must have IP addresses that are in the same sector in order to recognize each other. We had routers and wireless routers in our last home; if you are not able to access any of your internal routers (not the modem) then you need to spend some time learning IP Addressing schematics.
I used to work in this field, but I think I deliberately dropped the info simply because I got burned out. But the information for setting up your routers to talk to each other is on the web.

If you use 2 routers they conflict. You need a wireless range extender, this allows you to mount one unit between the rouer and the furthest machines.

They can, but you are going to be behind a double NAT. You are better off with a router and an access point.
