Because of my maladies, I have lived with constant pain for the past 15 years. The pain varies from a burning to a feeling like someone just stabbed an ice pick through my feet and/or legs.

So, while this is a bit subjective, I would say I have a high tolerance for pain, as I still get though my day. I still enjoy a good joke or two, and I still refuse to give in to the pains of my everyday life.

While the above is true, believe me, I am not saying I am a better person because of it. I can feel this way because I volunteer for "Shriners Hospital for Children - Los Angeles". I will never forget one of the first things I heard, just prior to volunteering...

Someone told me, "I use to complain about my feet hurting, until I met a child with no feet!"

I hope this helps.

A lot more than I thought. I had to have emergency surgery last year and it ended up being MAJOR surgery and it took me a long time to recover. For the first three or four days I was in the hospital, all they would let me have was ice chips. No water, just ice chips. I am a major water drinker, so that was hard. Then, they started pulling tubes out of me. Without anesthesia. Now THAT'S pain! The WORST was what they call a "J.P. drain"....OMGosh! No kidding, a 300-pound, bald, male nurse came over and got a hold of the tube, which was inside my small intestine and YANKED as hard as he could! I no longer have a fear of childbirth, because there is no way anything can hurt more than that!
On the upside, I did learn just how strong I am, and how much I can tolerate, not just pain-wise, but life-wise, if that makes any sense.

It actually depends..I had an operation a few years ago and before and after the surgery I was in a great deal of pain, but I took it in stride. On the other hand, I accidentally cut my finger with a knife earlier..took off some skin and I was here yelping in pain, lol. I guess it all depends on how I'm feeling overall.

As far as emotional pain goes..I have a pretty low tolerance for that. I'd say it's easier for me to handle most kinds of physical pain.

Depends on whether it's physical or emotional.
I have a very high physical pain tolerance. Tylenol holds me after surgery.
My tolerance for emotional pain is a little shorter.

I hate pain and avoid it at all cost....if I have no choice I have to endure what ever pain is unavoidable.

if this pain really made me a stronger person... what else can i say but to accept it and take it as a challenge...... pain is not a pain until you never faced it will come to you as life goes on no matter what pressure i still hold on and pray that i will overcome the pain and embrace life to be happy :)
