The line through (x1, y1) with slope m is given by the point-slope form :

y - y1 = m(x - x1)

Here we have
m = -3, x1 = -1, and y1 = 5
So the equation is:
y - 5 = -3(x + 1)
y - 5 = -3x - 3
y = -3x + 2

or you could write y + 3x = 2

Plug in the points into
y = mx + b

5 = -3*-1 + b
5 = 3 + b
2 = b

y = -3x + 2

Hope this helps=]

y=mx+c
c=y-mx
c=5-(-3*-1)
c=5-3
c=2
eqn of line,
y=-3x+2
