I'm young, growing out of some demographics I guess (just turned 31). I flip through the news channels, read the paper when it's around and read articles online.

When I find something interesting in the news, I look it up online and find the same article, word for word in several places, sometimes with a little variation. If this is the difference in news for the young and old, I see no difference.

I have several problems with the news. Local tv news is laughable no matter where you are. Local news anchors are completely fake. The stories they cover are ridiculous sometimes. In general, all formats of the news are just headlines with no story. Follow ups are rare, even with very interesting, unusual stories.

Anyone have suggestions for credible online news sources that might have something different to say? Where is a good place to find a discussion on news, current events and maybe find some updates?

Not entirely true. I'm in my late 60s. I've been relying on English language shortwave radio since 1949 as my chief source of news. For the past few years I've augmented that with a daily perusal of the web editions of several English language newspapers throughout the world as well as the web edition of my local newspaper. As for credible online news sources, I've listed two below.

I can't find any stats to back up this statement but believe it is generally true. I'm 70 and a retired newspaper editor and get the majority of the news I want from the internet but I may be an exception. Younger people grew up in the computer age and us old codgers did not. It's what you're accustomed to doing. I still look at newspapers and TV news but the internet has become more and more important to me in my search for "what's happenin', baby"

I read magazines and newspapers for information. The magazine I read the most is BabyTalk. I have a four month old and there is great advice in it. When I am finished I cut out interesting/useful articles and recycle the rest. I have ideas to write letters, but I never actually get there. I have fallen into the lazy American rut. Obviously, I am from the good of US of A and I speak English. Oh, I would lot to publish and article. I have a degree in writing, but I can not find a job in it yet. Know of anyone looking for a writer/proofreader/editor?
