Well, you can be "a great-grandfather".

Do you mean how can a man "BE" great?

If so, a man is great if he recognizes his position in the whole scheme of life.

A great man knows when he is a teacher and is not afraid of being a student.

A great man is not afraid of being wrong. He acknowledges and works for solutions. He leads with compassion and thought for others. He embrases his weakness and honors his strength.

A great man does not need to be the loudest or biggest. A great man knows his limits.

A great man is not afraid to allow others to capture their own greatness. He expects it and he is a gental and kind leader.

It takes a Great Man to know when he has done what he can, and he helps other men become the men they need to be.

Besides all this greatness, a great man is only a man. He would be humble before those that give him the love he requires and he would honor those that give it.

A man can really be great if he can understand and accept a wowans personality with all his heart. he should be able to stand up all the trials in his life. A man crying in a very rare tears is even stronger than any steel in the world. if a man is being able to balance love, money, emotion, luxury, god, friends, relatives and family, then no doubt that he is a GREAT MAN.

To be the greatest a man must become the servant of all.
By answering the question thus you will reveal to the teacher that you are familiar with the Holy Bible. Ask the teacher why he wants to know the answer to the question? If he already knows the answer, ask him to tell you what it is. If he evades your question, ask him how much he gets paid to ask questions instead of answering them.

kickenupfunf, you are so awesome. and absolutely right.
The great men in history were the little fighters that stuck to their guns, (or walking sticks) and believed in what they were doing.
We see them as great, but they see themselves as small people doing service to a great cause.
In reality, they are correct and the greatness of their cause was simply back-lighting their existence.
