I suspect that the need for black cats ONLY may indicate "witch-craft".

I personally love a black cat it is beautiful to me with green eyes
it stands out. It also reminds me of a black panther which
is a very beautiful animal.

but sadly a lot of black cats are a given that someone who had one was a witch and if you crossed a path of one it will give you bad luck. This came from the era of the salem witch trials when many women were burned at the stake a lot of the innocent!

If a lustfull woman wanting another womans husband she would lie and say that woman was a witch and the torture
that were given to these women would make them say they were just to stop the toture!!!

So if cats are asked for around halloween that are black could be set on fire or some such torture be careful of such persons

well that's just messed up... but i highly doubt that.. there isn't much we dont already know about the black cat nor is it something that we could learn much from that we couldn't learn from any color cat.. but being a black cat owner myself i can understand why someone would want a black cat.. generally in the USA and some other places (e.g. spain, italy) black cats are associated with witchcraft.. so maybe she's into that.. but unbeknownst to a lot of people black cats aren't always associated with bad luck.. in ancient egypt is was considered lucky to own one.. and in many parts of europe they feel the same way.. black cats are special they are kind of rare in that the all black cat typically skips one generation due to the characteristic's association with the X chromosome. there are many reason why someone would want one.. but i dont think it's for testing.. there are so many stray cat out there that if i were gonna do testing on one (which i wouldn't) i wouldn't actualy pay for it.. cats are a dime a dozen and shelters give them away by the boat loads...

Watch out, may be for sacrifice or something weird. Please check this out: (& Halloween is almost here!) http://www.snopes.com/horrors/mayhem/blackcat.asp
I know that many shelters won't adopt them out around Halloween.
