I'm not sexist, but women are often seen as the "weaker" sex. Truth be told, even a man can be in danger of being robbed, murdered, raped, or whatever.
If you're worried, learn self defense, buy pepper spray or other such non-lethal items, check your laws and make it so you can carry a concealed firearm (be well versed with it so you are confident).

Not that many men looking to rape a man I guess. Its not a double standard, its just a reality. there are no standards being applied, so it can't be a double standard....thats like saying there is a double standard that deer can't walk near wolves but elephants can. The wolves are less likely to attack the elephant. and the bad guys are less likely to attack a man because they assume that he will fight back.

It is OK for anyone to walk to the store at night. However, If there is any danger, it is the person's decision whether to walk alone or not. Usually men can physically take care of themselves better and may choose to walk to the store alone at night.
I hope if it is dangerous for you to walk alone at night that you either go during the day or walk with someone else.

I walk to the store at night in my neighborhood. As late as 1am. I live in a pretty safe one, though. It depends where you live. If you live in a bad area, men are just as unsafe as women.
