Can someone show me where in our constitution that it says that every American is entitled to subsidized government health care. If people want health care, why won't they pay for it themselves? Health care is not a right no matter what anyone thinks.

Medicare and Medicaid are a mess and if you are using them as examples then you have already lost the argument.

Also health care is not $1000 a month. I am not responsible for all you left winger's health care. I can take care of myself and I don't need any government MANDATED health care to help me. If you want health care maybe YOU should make some sacrifices. For one maybe you should sell the computer and internet service you're using now and buy yourself some coverage instead of begging me to pay for you.

You people amaze me how misinformed you are. You can't even decipher the difference between state and federal constitutions. All of you people who are pro government health care, you are all WORTHLESS BUMS. If you want health care, then buy it. How dare you mandate it for everyone. Who the h*ll do you think you are telling me and everyone else that the government should be in charge of my health. Get your socialist crap out of America.

A couple of reasons. One - people want other people to pay their way. Two - Politicians and those in the 'civil rights' rackets are telling them that 'free health care is a right'.

What they don't tell them is that nothing comes without a price. The price, in the end, is freedom. Government control of everything is the personal loss of everything. Serfdom.

Responsible, no... not at all. What the government is responsible for (and what it is failing miserably at) is to create a framework of laws that allow free competition in the market in a way that _optimizes the overall delivery of health care services_ Right now, we do not have the correct framework. The legal system causes doctors to have to pay exorbitant malpractice insurance and run really expensive tests on the patients that complain the loudest. The insurance companies are trying their hardest to deliver the LEAST amount of medicine per person, not the best. The pharma companies are reaming the American public, just because they can. The whole system is an inefficient mess. Tort reform would be a good first step towards fixing the problem.

For the same reason we think it is the governments responsibility to build roads and bridges, provide a police force, a fire service, a coast guard, a judicial system, farm subsidies, a military, subsidies for oil firms, nuclear weapons, bans on abortion, school education. Why not have these only through private insurance????

When the next big flu virus hits the world, all those countries with national health care will fair better than the USA because victims that need hospital treatment in the US but are not insured will not go for treatment because they know they will be hit with a bill afterwards! They will instead wander the streets and help spread the disease leading to more suffering and death. In countries with national health care we will simply go to hospital and get our antibiotics and other required treatment.

Let me take a crack at this.

The constitution says to provide for the general welfare. What could be more general than the state of people's health?

Why should you pay for my health care? Why should I pay for your wars, or whatever you think the government should do?

Let me make a principle of government: the government should do something if the extra benefit is greater than the extra cost. What could be better than insuring everyone has medical care and education, like they do in most developed countries? You would end up paying much less than you do now. I say it is worth it.

Housing, education, medical care, should all be rights under the constitution. If you don't like it, you are free to move somewhere else.

Ummm...the constitution doesn't say a lot of things...for example, it doesn't say that we must have a standing military, but we have one. It doesn't say anything about education, yet we have rules requiring children be educated...there is nothing in the constitution about food or drug safety, yet our government oversees that too..Whether or not health care is a right really isn't an issue.

It is just something that governments do...if a government isn't going to provide services, whether it be health care, protection in the to the citizens in the form of military, education, food and drug safety (none of which are "rights" btw, you do not have a constitutional right to safe food but it is a service the government at least pretends to try and provide), etc, etc, what the hell is the point of government?

Quite frankly, for the amount of money we pay in taxes, every last on of us should have the health care that is provided to senators, representatives, presidents and other members of the federal government free and clear.

You and I are the government. Government exists to solve problems individuals can't solve individualy. 1 in 6 have no health insurence. 2 more in 6 are under insured. That means the last 3 in 6 are over paying for there insurence to make up for the hospitals loses. That is the problem !
Medicares admin costs are 1.7 cents on the dollar. The average insurence co.s admin cost is 17 cents on the dollar. 10 times that of the government program. That is the problem.
If a government program can reduce the over all costs of health insurence , provide equal care for all , while requiring us all to pay in equaly , how is it EVIL.
30 years ago we were told the the german health care program was terrible that it was almost bankurpt and surly going to fail. While the german health care system continues on covering all germans from cradle to grave ours leaves 1 in 6 to die if they get sick. Leaves another 2 in 6 to dire poverty if the become sick. That is a problem.
Great peoples , great nations , great societies , must help those unable to help themselves or risk losing that greatness. The problem is clear. Can't we work together to solve the problem. The reality is lower costs for those already well covered not higher costs. The reality is all would pay not just the rich. The reality is a better system for all with no one asking to see into your wallet first.
It's not the responsibility of government to provide health care. It's your and my obligation to work to find an answer to the problem of run away health care costs.

Where in our constitution does it say that we are entitled to police and fire departments and education and libraries? Yet, they are necessary for a healthy community and a healthy democracy. And, healthcare is necessary for a healthy population and people, and therefore a healthy community. Why should health care be a privilege to benefit only the people who can afford the $1000 a month to buy insurance that won't even necessarily be there if something happens to them?

Can you show me where in the Constitution, government is to provide subsidies to corporate farmers, bailout failing businesses, S&Ls, or where government is to build Interstate Highways?

They're called Medicare and Medicaid. and they're both Government Programs. If it isn't the responsibility of The Government, then why were these Programs created ?
