You can soap the outer layers (meaning don't stick soap up *in* there). Use something gentle, like those "feminine washes," or a gentle soap (Dove is good--so is anything fragrance-free for sensitive skin). No harsh lotions or soaps. Don't ever douche, ever ever ever, because it kills all the bacteria in your vagina, both the good and bad. You need the good bacteria or the ph levels will get wacky, and that can cause infection.

As for the rashes...dunno. Try wearing white cotton underwear; anything besides cotton won't take moisture away from the area, and usually moisture is the cause of rashes. Dry the area thoroughly when you're done bathing. No really tight pants. Don't use bleach on your panties when you wash them, and perhaps switch laundry detergents to see if that does the trick.

You don't have to do anything extraordinary to keep yourself tidy. Use a mild soap when you bathe, which should be daily. Do not use external sprays or douches. Your body is very good at making sure that vagina is clean. Wear cotton underware, as it allows air to circulate and if moisture is a problem try a little baby cornstarch powder . Do not use talc as it is theorized that it may contribute to ovarian cancer. Do not wear thong underware, ever. It rides up into your butt and neatly deposits fecal matter and its germs where they can dine quite nicely in your vagina. Always wipe from front to back for the same reason.Oh and always empty your bladder after sexual relations. It helps to flush out any germs that may be heading north.

You can use soap daily, just make sure to use a fragrance free non allergy causing soap. Do not douche as this removes normal bacteria that is meant to be in the vaginal canal. Also if you often get rashes it could be because of your underwear. Stick to cotten underwear that isnt too tight. Materials like spandex trap moisture and can cause rashes.

Never ever douche, it rids your vagina of its natural lubrication, and basically the vagina cleans itself. Use an unscented soap to clean the outter labia, and always rinse really well. If you have had any sexual contact or the rash is pus like or causing you concern, I would see a doctor about it, as embarassing as it can be...it is better to be safe than sorry.

Basically what you've been told. Wash with warm water every day. You probably don't need soap, if you do make it mild. It takes care of itself. The rashes might be another issue and you should see the doc.

I just don't think douching is natural. When showering, just rinse it well with water, not soaps, that may just irritate it more. Showering daily would be a good idea.
