raichasays - By that logic I could go into a town and kill all the children for no better reason than they're not adults.

Oh for heavens sake. I am pro-life and believe abortion is wrong, but seriously, have you been living in a cave since 1973?

Abortion is legal in this country because we do not recognize the fetus as a human being. Only human beings can be "murdered". And the rights of the woman to control what grows in her body supercede the non-rights of a non-human being.

That's the theory. I don't agree with it, but there it is.

If you want to fight this battle, you will have to fight it on those grounds. Prove a fetus is a human being and you might change minds.

Good luck.

Just because abortion is legal doesn't make it right. Many people don't view the unborn as children. Funny thing though... a woman's body knows she's pregnant within 48 hours after the fertilized ovum implants in the uterus. The heart starts developing and beating within 3 weeks.

People don't look at abortion as 'the child deserves death.' It's more of an irresponsible selfishness. It's the attitude of, 'I want to have sex, but I don't want to deal the consequences of it.'

It's sad really. Children are a gift from God. I don't condemn people out there that have had abortions. I do believe each one lives with a regret about their decision.

It's legal because women have rights too. Women should have to choice of abortion because it's up to them whether they're ready or not. Also, if a women has a baby at a very young age, the chances of that baby having a bad life are high, and what could that baby have done to deserve a bad life?

There are so many points to make here, and the opinions on it are so strong, which is why this is an extremely controversial topic.

Only in states that legalize abortion. And they don't call it murder but freedom of choice. The controversy was addressed by the US Supreme Court in the landmark case of Rowe vs. Wade. The unborn child was considered as not human yet and doing away with it was reduced to a matter of choice by the woman. They don't deserve death like this but it is no longer a legal question but a moral one. Just my few cent's worth.

In other words, you are pro-life. That does not mean that those who oppose you are pro-death, or anti-life.

You know perfectly well why abortion is legal. The government has the unenviable task of trying to strike a balance between the interests of those who oppose abortion, and the interests of those who think that women should have control over their own bodies.

That is why debate on this issue is impossible.

Nobody is in favour of murder.

Nobody is in favour of women not having control over their own bodies.

Reasonable and intelligent people avoid this "hot button" topic, because people have arrived at whatever postition they take on abortion, not from logic or fact, but from beliefs and values. That goes for both sides of the coin, by the way.

I am a Christian, and abortion is distasteful to me--as indeed it is to everyone. People do not gratuitously have abortions, without having any emotional consequences thereafter.

I am also a sinner, weak and foolish, whose only hope for salvation is the forgiveness of a loving God. I have a full time job on my hands, putting aside my own weakness, and foolishness, and greed, and stupidity--to try to make myself acceptable to my God.

So do you have the exact same full time job. So does everyone. Nobody has the time, or at least nobody should have the time, to be so wonderful and so perfect and so acceptable to God as to be able to admonish others. Did not Jesus Himself warn us against that?

"Let he among you who is without sin cast the first stone."

Please forgive me if I misquoted--I don't get to church as often as I should. Add that to the list of things for which a mericiful God will forgive me because I believe in Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour.

I am not trying to single you out, just because the fact that I am a Christian does not stop me from being offended by your question.

Some things I do not understand. If abortion is murder, why do some militant pro-life people kill doctors?

If you care so much about murder, where were you when Kosovo and Rwanda and Uganda and Cambodia were going on? All of those genocides were recent and within your lifetime.

Why don't more pro-life people offer their homes to abused and abandoned and neglected children? Why don't they adopt more special needs children?

Just asking, not judging.

it is not legal to murder an unborn baby if it is a certain age in the womb-meaning if it is viable like 6 or 7 months for example

the HORROR just want to remind those of you that believe the unborn don't live. if you were to somehow kill a pregnant mother and the baby dies too it can and probably will be charged as a double homicide or two counts of manslaughter its all about who's purpose it serves

If the baby is growing in the fallopian tube that is reason. If the baby isn't "murdered" than both the mother and child will die. And actually your argument uses the word "murder" in a way that appeals to emotion, not relying on the actual argument.

God knows you before your born and if your going to be aborted he wont send down a soul, he.ll put it else where

It isn't. Abortion is legal, if that's what you mean, and unborn fetuses have done nothing to "deserve death". Abortion and murder are unrelated issues. Abortion is legal because the rights of women and girls to control their bodies trump the non-rights of undeveloped babies. It may sound cruel, but it's the law and I'm glad it's there. Obviously, it would be great if abortion weren't necessary, but it is in some cases.
